It’s got another mode to help you fall asleep faster. Basically, this product will not only light your room, but help you feel better rested in the long run.
2. Flux Bluetooth Smart LED Light Bulb
This single bulb supports over 16 million color gradients, and is controllable entirely via a smartphone app. It can be programmed to shine different colors at different times of the day, and can even be programmed to react to music in the room.
3. WeMo Smart LED Lighting Starter Set
The WeMo system is a modular set of lightning that can be combined and built up with additional bulbs. The starter set includes two WeMo Smart Light Bulbs and one WeMo Link that’s placed centrally in the home. This allows you to connect up to 50 smart bulbs and control them individually or as a monolithic group.
4. GE Link
The deceptively simple Link is designed to work with the Wink hub, which we’ll detail below. The important takeaway is that this light will give off 800 lumens and run less than $1.50 per year in electricity costs. With a Wink hub in place, it can be controlled from virtually anywhere.

This hub is designed to be a simple one-size-fits-all solution to get your smart home started, and it’s compatible with a range of technology including Z-wave, Zigbee, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, & Lutron ClearConnect so that all your smart products can be controlled via the simple Wink app. This could be your perfect foot in the door to the world of smart homes.
6. SmartThings Hub by Samsung
Here’s another universal hub designed to be the centerpiece of your new smart home, connecting with a group of sensors and smart devices that can be monitored and controlled using the included free app. You can be alerted when windows are opened or lights left on from anywhere on earth. It connects seamlessly with Zigbee, Z-Wave, and Wi-Fi smart products, and similar to the GE hub, allows you to control them all right from your phone.
7. Philips Hue Personal Wireless Lighting
Similar to the WeMo set, this starter pack is the beginning piece of a set that could include up to 50 bulbs on a single bridge, all controllable remotely. One of its unique features is the ability to create lighting scenes based on your favorite photos, using the included free smartphone app.
8. WeMo Light Switch
This smart outlet lets you turn electronics on or off from anywhere. It’s designed to work intuitively, meshing with your existing Wi-Fi router and any wireless Apple device, allowing control over any one-way connection lights as well as other electronics that normally need hands-on power.
9. WeMo Switch
Similar to the light switch above, this unit is perfect for lamps and space heaters and anything else you’d want to activate remotely. It works with your existing Wi-Fi router and any Apple or Android smartphone or tablet to let you control your devices remotely by plugging them into this smart outlet.
10. Floor Plan Light Switch by Yanko Design
Designed by Taewon Hwang, this unique panel features switches that are modified according to the floor plan of the room and home itself, operating accordingly. The huge advantage here is that, in a single glance, you’ll know exactly which switch controls the lighting in which room. This allows you to control lighting throughout the house in an intuitive, visual way.
11. LED Ceiling Light Design
We love this arresting conceptual light scheme, created by Seo Dong-Hun. It allows you to create virtually any design or pattern of lighting that you can imagine, right on your own ceiling. It works conceptually like a Lite-Brite, letting you “paint” the ceiling with light. It may not be practical, but it is smart, innovative, and a clear indicator of the future of smart home lighting.
12. Revolights For Bicycles
While this product isn’t exactly designed for in-home use, we simply had to include it for its relevance. Voted “The Best Bike Lighting System in the World” by Men’s Journal Magazine, the product features a front projecting headlight and smart brake light, blinking to indicate to traffic when you are slowing down The light is visible from 360 degrees, increasing visibility from all angles of approach for the ultimate in safety. Anything that brightens our lives while making us safer is a worthy endeavor!
13. Apple HomeKit
This unique hub is designed to allow internet-connected appliances – The Internet Of Things – to “speak” to one another. You can then centrally control your appliances using Siri on your iPhone or iPad. Its most clever feature is called Scenes, designed to make it easier to control an entire group of devices at once. For example, you could set a “Leaving home” scene to turn off all gadgets, while a “Going to bed” scene could turn off lights and turn thermostat down.

This device combines the energy efficiency of a dimmable LED light with the high fidelity audio of a JBL Bluetooth speaker, all in a package that you can control with any iOS or Android device. The Pulse can be twisted into any standard light socket, where you can enjoy both warm dimmable lighting and music courtesy of your nearby smartphone or tablet. There are no wires to bother with or remote control to lose. Basically, it’s an invisible stereo system!
